Nha Trang

12 hours on a night bus lead me to this gorgeous, coastal city of Vietnam. With highs of 28 degrees and the sun shining, it was splendid.

After some sun on the beach (and consequently a burn), we had some free beer at the hostel (as with most hostels in Vietnam) and a lovely Vietnamese buffet. After a few more beers, we descended on Nha Trang and found the only cheap, non-Russian bar.

Sidenote: It’s not to say we wouldn’t go to a Russian bar, we even went to a Russian nightclub, the only one in the city, we think. It had lots of heavy techno. But anyway, the thing with Russian bars is that the drinks are expensive and they all look like they could knock 7 shades of shit out of you.

The Next Day

I took a bicycle and did a tour of the city. I’m not one for temples and pagodas so much now, I’ve seen far too many of them! However, the temple here was incredible as it was built in 6 BC and the pagoda had this freakishly huge statue of a Buddha.

It looks small in the photo, but believe me, it’s huge!

Also, let me know what you think of the picture below. Have a look at the pattern.

Swastikas everywhere.

After the bike tour, it was back to the beach for some more swimming and laying around.

The Evening

The ‘gang’; Ralph, Channy, & Jamie, after probably a week of interrupted travel, were all under the same roof… although we were scattered for different reasons in the day (perhaps for another blog… ) we enjoyed a few beers at our local bar.
